We are proud to announce that our Touraine Oisly Eloquence (2021 vintage) has received a silver medal at the
World Sauvignon Competition 2023.
About the competition
This internationally renowned competition is made up of sommeliers, distributors, journalists and wine critics who blind taste between 1000 and 2000 samples from more than 20 different countries each year.
Its objective is to promote quality Sauvignon wines, to make them known to the public and to encourage their production and consumption.
About Sauvignon Blanc
According to the latest 2017 report from OIV, the International Organisation of Vine and Wine, Sauvignon Blanc is among the top ten grape varieties planted in the world. In France, it is found mainly in Languedoc-Roussillon, Bordeaux and the Loire Valley. Its aromas of citrus, lemon or tropical fruits such as pineapple make it iconic. Moreover, Sauvignon can be matched with a wide range of dishes and is suitable for all types of budgets.
From New-Zeland to the Val de Loire
Although Sauvignon has been particularly appreciated in the United States for several years, it is mainly thanks to New Zealand that sales of Sauvignon Blanc have increased. New Zealand has succeeded in establishing itself on the American market, which was until now dominated by Sauvignon Blanc from California, and has created a real trend around Sauvignon.
This trend has been sustained and now benefits all producers, especially in the Loire Valley where Sauvignon represents 80.9% of the production of the region. The white wines of the Loire Valley are increasingly recognized for their quality. Just by looking at the figures, exports have increased by about 13% in volume and 24% in value in 2021. As for the results of the 2023 competition, France is in first place with 115 medals out of 364. Among the French, the Loire Valley has 77 medals, representing about 66% of French medals.
The Touraine Oisly
Our cuvée Eloquence is a wine of appellation Touraine Oisly. It is a denomination of the Touraine appellation. Since 1905, Oisly is considered as the cradle of Sauvignon Blanc in Touraine. With its committed winemakers, Oisly became increasingly recognized. Its terroir and the personality of its wines were praised. It is only in 2011, after multiple geological prospecting, that the first vintage of Touraine Oisly was released.
